At the inaugural conference event for the Italian chapter of the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA Italia), held on May 12 at the IULM University in Milan, IDG faculty member Daniel Vella gave a presentation entitled "De-Roling from Gamplay and Experiences in Virtual Worlds." The presentation demonstrated research work in progress in collaboration with IDG faculty member Stefano Gualeni and recently-graduated IDG student Johnathan Harrington, focusing on an application of the notion of "de-roling" - a term used in fields such as psychodrama and drama therapy to refer to the practices by which a subject divests herself from an extra-ordinary role and situation - to experiences in the virtual environments of digital games and VR applications.
