The Institute of Digital Games is heavily involved in the organization of this year's Foundations of Digital Games (FDG) international conference.
The official website for the event was launched yesterday, submissions are now open, and the deadlines for both short and full papers were extended to April the 8th, 2022.

The FDG 2022 website

FDG is an interdisciplinary conference on technology used to develop digital games, and the study of digital games and their design. At FDG, academics can present their work to a diverse audience, share new ideas, and find collaborations with different backgrounds. More practically speaking, the FDG conference consists in presentations of peer-reviewed papers, invited talks by prominent industry and academic figures, panels, demos and posters. It also features workshops, game competitions, and a doctoral consortium.

This year's setup is going to be hybrid: physical presence is welcome and invited, but it will be also possible to present and attend the conference remotely.

  • Stefano Gualeni: Program chair
  • Ahmed Khalifa: Artificial Intelligence track chair
  • Johnathan Harrington: Games Beyond Entertainment track co-chair
  • Iro Voulgari: Games Beyond Entertainment track co-chair

And our former PhD student

  • Renata Ntelia: Games and the humanities track co-chair.

Many of us at the IDG will also serve as reviewers for various game-related tracks, and plan to participate in the conference in Athens between September the 5th and the 8th. See you there, maybe?

The conference invites research contributions in the form of papers, posters and demos, doctoral consortium applications, as well as panel, competition, and workshop proposals. For more information on submitting research contributions to FDG 2022, click HERE!
